Designing thoughtful interiors with purpose.

I'm Micaela Faria known as Mika Faria, founder of Atalho and a British-educated Interior Architect based in Portugal, working remotely across the UK and internationally. Graduating with First Class Honours in Interior Architecture in London and having lived there for 5 years, shaped the way I approach every project: with clarity, curiosity and a deep understanding of how spaces influence the way we live. Today, I'm based in Madeira - Portugal, I collaborate with homeowners, property investors and developers to create timeless interiors that balance aesthetics, functionality and long-term value.

My approach

I believe great design begins with understanding people before spaces. Every project starts by listening carefully to how you live, work and experience your home. Rather than following trends, I focus on creating interiors that feel calm, intuitive and effortless to live in. From spatial planning and material selection to lighting, furniture and architectural detailing, every decision is made with intention to create spaces that remain relevant for years to come.

Working Remotely

Distance should never limit great design.

Using a structured remote design process, I work with clients across the UK and internationally through online consultations, digital presentations, technical drawings, 3D visualisations and ongoing project support.

This approach allows projects to progress efficiently while maintaining close collaboration throughout every stage.

• Over 10 years of experience in Interior Design and Interior Architecture

• Author of the book "Designing with Nature."
